What is the ClipAgent MCP connector?

It's an OAuth-protected MCP (Model Context Protocol) server that gives Claude direct access to ClipAgent's AI clipping agent. Once connected, Claude can take any YouTube URL you drop in chat, find the most viral moments, and render them as 9:16 captioned shorts — all without you leaving Claude.

How do I add ClipAgent to Claude.ai?

Open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector. Paste https://mcp.clip-agent.com as the URL, click Connect, sign into your ClipAgent account, and click Authorize. The connector appears in your tools menu. Total time: about 30 seconds.

Does it work in Claude Desktop on Mac and Windows?

Yes. Claude Desktop supports MCP connectors the same way Claude.ai does. Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector → paste the URL → sign in. Same OAuth flow.

Can I use ClipAgent with Claude Code (CLI)?

Yes. Run `claude mcp add --transport http clipagent https://mcp.clip-agent.com` and Claude Code will guide you through OAuth. Or, for headless use, generate an API key in your dashboard and pass it as `--header "Authorization: Bearer ca_live_..."`.

How does the AI clipping agent rank viral moments?

Each candidate clip is scored 1–10 on hook strength, emotional intensity, curiosity gap, and shareability. The agent transcribes the full video with Whisper, then uses Claude Sonnet 4.6 to identify ranked clip candidates with reasoning. You see why each clip was picked.

How much does it cost to use the MCP connector?

The connector itself is free. You pay $2 per video Claude analyzes — same pay-as-you-go pricing as the ClipAgent API. Rendering is included; no extra charge for picking and rendering 1, 5, or 10 clips from a single video. Credits never expire.

Do I need a Claude Pro / Max subscription?

MCP connectors are available on Claude Pro and Max plans, plus Claude Desktop and Claude Code (free with any Anthropic account). You don't need a separate subscription for ClipAgent — just enough credits to clip the videos you want.

What's the difference between ClipAgent's API and the MCP connector?

Same backend, same prices. The API is a REST endpoint you call from your own code. The MCP connector is the API wrapped in the protocol Claude speaks natively, so you can use ClipAgent inside Claude conversations without writing any code.

Is my YouTube content safe?

ClipAgent only processes URLs you explicitly send. Videos are downloaded, transcribed, and rendered — then the source files are discarded. Rendered clips are stored as private signed URLs that expire in 24 hours. We never publish or share your clips.

Can I revoke Claude's access later?

Yes. Visit your ClipAgent dashboard, find the API key labeled 'Claude (via OAuth)', and revoke it. Claude will lose access immediately. You can reconnect any time.
